We Can Do Better

There was a shooting at a church this past Sunday. A guy was running from the police and hid in a bathroom at a nearby church. When a minister caught him in the bathroom, the guy murdered him. We can do better than this. We can prevent these tragedies. People have far more potential than just being a criminal or shooter. They don’t have to do destructive things. We all have some kind of strength and we need to learn how to develop it in positive ways. We don’t need to do things that hurt other people. Instead, we can reach out to people and tell them that they have great potential, that they can do all sorts of good things. We shouldn’t have to put up with shootings anymore. We can do better than that. We need to focus on people’s strengths. We need to look at what people can do and help them develop those strengths before they go down the wrong road. We have that kind of power. We need to teach people how they can do better because hate is not the way to go. There are better alternatives out there; one of them is to find your strength and build on it. Maybe then we can be a less violent society and start turning towards compassion.
